Aspire’s December Highlights

The holidays may have just wrapped up, but the energy of a new year is already in full swing at Aspire. As we step into this next chapter, we’re carrying forward the joy, meaningful moments, and connections that continue to inspire our community.

As part of this fresh start, you’ll now hear from us every other month, bringing you regular updates, stories, and highlights from across Aspire. From celebrating milestones to sharing everyday moments of belonging, this new year is already filled with gratitude and possibility.

Here’s a look at what’s been lighting up Aspire as we begin the year ahead:

Academy North Highlights

Groups have been enjoying trips to The Tens Hotel in Gurnee to admire the beautifully decorated holiday trees. Each tree is uniquely designed by local businesses and organizations, making it a festive showcase of community creativity and holiday spirit!

The Enterprise Fleet Management Team spread holiday cheer at Academy North by transforming our program space with festive decorations! We enjoyed decorating cookies and creating a holiday craft together. Their time and effort truly made the season brighter for everyone, and we deeply appreciate it!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in our very own talent show Aspire’s Got Talent! It was such a fun day filled with talent, enthusiasm, and performances that truly brought joy to the season for everyone!

Academy South Highlights

We had the incredible opportunity to welcome Victoria Boateng to Academy South for an African drum circle experience! People explored a variety of drums, learned about their cultural significance, and enjoyed the rhythm and energy of making music together. It was a wonderful way to connect, learn, and celebrate African traditions through sound and movement.

Virtual Reality Comes to Academy South! We kicked off our use of Virtual Reality with an exciting Open House where everyone had the chance to try out the new equipment. Those who put on the headsets experienced amazing adventures like swimming with dolphins, riding in a hot air balloon, visiting penguins, and even playing with puppies, all in virtual reality!

We’re thrilled about the possibilities this technology brings and look forward to exploring even more immersive experiences in the new year.

Athletes and volunteers from Academy North and Academy South came together in November to participate in the Special Olympics Cornhole Unified Event at North Central College in Naperville. It was an incredible day of teamwork, competition, and fun!

Several teams even brought home medals, including gold! We’re so proud of everyone who participated and represented our Academies with such enthusiasm and sportsmanship.

Nutcracker Performances Shine in December!

December was filled with grace and excitement as 37 dancers from Academy South took the stage for Nutcracker performances! Backstage and in the audience, the energy was electric as our dancers showcased their hard work and talent, bringing the classic holiday ballet to life with their best moves.

We are so proud of their dedication and the joy they shared through dance!
