Aspire’s Spring Highlights!

Spring has officially sprung, bringing with it a fresh burst of energy, growth, and endless new possibilities! As the days get sunnier and the flowers start to bloom, we’re feeling inspired and ready for everything this season has in store.

At Aspire, spring is a time to celebrate progress, embrace new adventures, and cheer on the amazing achievements of the people we support. There’s so much to look forward to, and so much we’re excited to share!

Here’s a peek at what’s been blossoming at Aspire lately:

Academy North Highlights:

Everyone had a fantastic time at our Magical Mystical Mixer Gala!

Academy North was transformed into a whimsical, enchanted space for the celebration. We enjoyed a catered lunch, dancing, a scavenger hunt, face painting, wand making, and a captivating performance by a magician!

Aspire’s P.O.W.E.R Self Advocacy Group met at Academy South for their quarterly in-person meeting!

We discussed what it means to be a self-advocate and started to create styles for some t-shirts. 

A big thank you to the team at Equestrian Connection in Lake Forest for a wonderful visit to the barn! We had a great time hanging out and making treats for the horses, creating crafts, and enjoying horseback rides.

Academy South Highlights:

Everyone had a fantastic time at our Magical Mystical Mixer Gala!

Academy South was turned into an enchanted space with beautiful decorations and fun lights that set the stage for a day of good music, dancing, food, and personal magic tricks from a magician!

The Memorial Park District offered their gym space for the people at Academy South to prepare for the Special Olympics Track & Field events. After practicing for their specific events, athletes joined their peers for some hoops!

Along with some friends from Academy North, a small group went to The Orchid Show at the Chicago Botanical Gardens and the flowers were beautiful!

It was a great way to get us started thinking about our garden that we will be starting later in the spring. 

We were so excited to continue our visits to museums with a visit the Field Museum! Everyone raved about seeing a real dinosaur! We learned a lot about some of our favorite animals.
